The old country doctors, with only
their five senses and perhaps a stethoscope, are amazing
examples of compassionate health care. Without MRIs, CT
scanners, nuclear medicines, or precisely engineered
pharmaceuticals; the quality of their patients' life was
the focus of their profession. "First, do no harm," was
their credo. The tremendous technological advances of
the recent decades has created the ability for today's
doctors to extend the quantity of their patients' lives.
Therein lies the paradox; quality versus quantity of
life.
This
website was created to promote the book "Death and Dying
or Can You Love Me Enough to Let Me Go" by Bruce A.
Foster, M.D . as well as the DVD "Facing Your Future, "
which was developed by Dr. Foster and supported by his
collaborator Richard McGinnis. In these works, their
professional goal is to help others explore the problem
of near death decisions by offering concepts which
re-frame dying as a graduation.
